Tour Description
According to the legend, the statue of the Virgin of Lluc, was discovered by a shepherd and monk on the banks of a nearby stream in Lluc. They carried her to the local Parish Church, the following day the villagers came to pray before her only to discover that she had disappeared, they found her again back on the banks of the stream. This happened twice more time each time reappearing back on the banks of the stream.
A small chapel was built in her honour which was later replaced in the 13th century with the Monastery of Lluc to celebrate this miracle and to cater for the large number of pilgrims who came to worship before Our Lady of Lluc. The day trip to Monastery includes a visit to the Baroque Basilica de Virgin of Lluc, a guided tour of the Monastery, museum, the nearby village of Lluc, the exotic botanical gardens and to hear the Escolania boys choir sing. The choir is one of the oldest in Europe and nicknamed ‘El Blauets’ because of the blue cassocks they wear.
